What is LaLanne Fitness?


Chris has created a training style he has termed
LaLanne Fitness. LaLanne Fitness training is fun
and challenging. You will perform bodyweight exercises
such as squats, lunges, push ups, sit ups, jumping,
running, pull ups and rowing. You will also use
dumbbells and/or olympic bars for exercises such as
push press, thrusters, deadlifts, clean and jerk and
overhead squats. Expect to use kettlebells for
exercises such as kettlebell swings, sumo deadlift
high pulls, turkish get-ups and overhead lunges. Don’t
worry if you are not familiar with some of these
exercises he will coach you through the correct
technique for each of them. Based on your current
fitness level, Chris will combine these various
exercises into a short, high intensity workout such as
as many sets as possible in 20 minutes, or a set
number of rounds for time. Each and every workout is
scaled to your own ability.

Another key element is that each workout is random.
You do not know what you will be doing until you turn
up for your personal training session. This stops your
body from adjusting and familiarizing itself with the
same routine, which reduces your ability to progress.
If you are used to going to a typical gym, you
probably have a set routine that may last up to one
hour. This is not only, very likely, boring for you
but limits your capacity for improving your fitness.
Similarly, if you go to classes for body toning,
aerobics or step, you also become familiar with the
routine and you are probably concentrating on either
solely cardio work or isolating specific muscles. With
CrossFit, every workout incorporates cardio but also
works every major muscle group, giving you a complete
body workout like you have never done before.
